Green Dry Cleaning, Clean your Clothes the Green Way.

In the past, you might have had to choose between looking good and being environmentally friendly. All too often, that has meant making sacrifices that leave you not looking or feeling your best. Luckily, there have been advancements in dry cleaning that allow you to clean all of your clothes without worrying about damage to the earth around you.

Green dry cleaning is one of the latest trends in sustainable living. Many of the companies that employ green dry cleaning do so by shying away from harmful chemicals that could be dangerous to the environment as well as your delicate skin. However, there is much more that can be done when you truly want to be green.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
You already recycle at home, why not do so at the dry cleaners? Captain Dry Clean already recycles hangers and collar supports, but you can do the same. When you bring in your clothing, include the hanger so a second does not need to be used to hang your garment. If you have items with cuffs or collars, keep the plastic collar stays and return them with your next wash so they can be used again. If you want to try your hand at something truly creative, use your plastic garment bag to make a beautiful wreath.

Keep it Clean
You may think that the greenest choice for your clothing is to skip the dry cleaning process. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to place a worn clothing item back in a closet without proper cleaning. Your natural body oils can attract insects, which is bad. When a piece of clothing sits long enough, oxidation can cause previously small or even unseen stains to darken, which is worse. It takes harsher chemicals to remove stains such as this. That would negate your reasoning for not dry cleaning your garment in the first place.

Avoid Fuel Emissions
Try to carry all of your dry cleaning items with you once each week in order to avoid multiple trips. When you pick up your clothing, be sure to gather all items at once instead of leaving some behind. Working with a dry cleaner that delivers is even more preferable.

As the summer heat continues, your wardrobe will need to be continuously cleaned. Do not avoid this necessity, but do carry out your dry cleaning tasks in a smart and eco-conscious way
